How to Brew — Loose-Leaf Preparation

  1. Measure Your Tea: Use 1 teaspoon (2–3g) of loose-leaf tea per 6–8 oz (180–240ml) of water. Adjust to taste — more leaves for a bolder cup, fewer for a lighter brew.

  2. Boil Fresh Water: Bring fresh, cold water to a full rolling boil (212°F / 100°C). Avoid re-boiling water, as it reduces oxygen and flattens flavor.

  3. Add Tea to Infuser or Teapot: Place the measured leaves in a strainer, infuser, or teapot. Pour the boiling water directly over the leaves.

  4. Steep: Steep for 3–5 minutes. 3 minutes yields a lighter, brighter cup; 5 minutes produces a stronger, more robust brew.

  5. Strain & Serve: Strain the leaves and pour into your cup. Serve immediately for best flavor.

Milk or No Milk?

  • With Milk (Chai-style): Add warm whole milk to taste — typically a 1:3 to 1:2 milk-to-tea ratio. Optionally add sugar or jaggery.
  • Plain / Black: Enjoy as-is, or with a squeeze of lemon and honey.
  • Iced: Brew double-strength (2 tsp per 6 oz water), steep 4–5 minutes, then pour over ice.
